paradise

welcome back to my musical journey at my re-branded website. the van gogh brothers are alive and well, but since i’m stretching out a bit, it seemed appropriate to return to my own site.

as i’ve been saying lately after celebrating my 70th birthday, music has been very good to me. i have a very good life, and i am profoundly grateful that i have the good fortune and freedom to continue creating, traveling, performing, and exploring new frontiers.

as many of you know, the van gogh brothers have taken a hiatus to catch our breath after a full and personally challenging few years. we have suspended our monthly residency at vincent’s worcester until 2026 and have booked only one public show for the remainder of 2025, at Donna Green’s phenomenal magical moon farm in the blue moon barn on october 4th, featuring the amazing bobby tynes on saxophone. you can get tickts here. this show will sell out.

i returned to woolly mammoth studios in may of this year with david minehan and drummer jon cohan and recorded basic tracks for 2 new songs, Brave New World, and Paradise. Brave New World is Police-inspired rocker featuring my old bandmate Michael Levine on electric violin, Jon on drums, and David on bass. Paradise is a blend of a John Mayer-ish song foundation with a jazzy, bossa nova feel. this track has an extended outro featuring Bobby Tynes on soprano saxophone, Malibu pal Richard Gibbs on Fender Rhodes piano, Jon on drums and congas, and David on bass. Anthony J. Resta is producing the track with Karyadi Sutedja mixing. Paradise is a real departure for me, and it leans back into my jazz roots. very exciting.

i’m returning to malibu as i write this for a week-long visit to catch up with friends, music biz colleagues, and the magic of my personal paradise. i look forwqrd to checking in with you again later this summer or fall. in the meantime, i hope everyone has a wonderful summer, and thank you for helping to keep the music alive.

love,

jc
